Personal Branding Images

I am so so happy to see my calendar filling up with many personal branding shoots. In our fast-moving visual world I find that nothing is more important as a business, than making sure that the images you use in your online appearance are smack in the face awesome!
And I feel blessed to play a big part in making your businesses look brilliant and simultaneously give you a personal ego-boost with gorgeous images.
My clients come from all areas of business - various artists, crafts-men and -women, corporate, therapists.
I get so excited when I get to look behind the scenes of all these different genres and every branding shoot is a new, welcome challenge for me.

Verliebt - 'Fotografin im Salzkammergut Portrait photographer Salzburg

When I saw you,
I fell in love,
and you smiled because you knew.
-William Shakespeare

The first time I met these two was at one of my weddings some time ago. They were the cutest guest-couple. Perfectly matched and oh so cool.
This autumn we finally were able to travel to our beautiful Salzkammergut where we shot a beautiful series of images just for the two of them. It was a birthday wish come true.
First dressed in traditional bavarian Dirndl and Lederhosen. I made them walk barefoot through icy ponds - thanks for your trust you two!
Nadine had her red and green flower wreath especially made for this occasion.
And afterwards they changed into more casual cool gear.

All images, as always, shot on film - fuji and ilford this time -
on my trusty pentax and mamiya cameras.

Best Friends Forever Portrait Fotografin Burghausen

"Best Friends are the people
you can do anything and nothing with
and still have the best time."

Beste Freundinnen seit über 20 Jahren - das musste endlich mal in Bildern festgehalten werden. An einem der letzten sonnigen, warmen Herbsttage machten wir gemeinsam die Altstadt von Burghausen unsicher. :-)

Best friends since over 20 years - that needed to be preserved in photographs! It was one of the last sunny warm autumn days this year that we painted the old-town of Burghausen red.
So much love and fun and laughter - I keep smiling when I think about this shoot.
Thank you girls!!!

A few words on finding your own voice

"You must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all.
Thoreau said, 'Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.' Don't be resigned to that. Break out!"
Robin Williams - Dead Poets Society

I am thinking a lot lately. I see so much in my line of work but also in all other creative industries lately, that upsets me.
Some of you know, that I am Co-Founder of"The Bohemia Gatherings" , where I not only teach women about film photography but also talk about finding your own voice.
"FIND YOUR OWN VOICE"
it's a term that has been over-used so much recently, that it seems to be mostly overlooked.
But now more than ever before it is CRUCIAL to sit down, think what it is you want to create, how you want to create,
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE???
I am sad to see what is happening in the photography industry, and so so VERY TIRED of seeing the same thing over and over and over again.
Especially when I look at wedding-/family-/portrait-photography.
You can and must still give these images your personal stamp!
We all need inspiration of course.
And young photographers starting out often get sucked into the deadly cycle of looking up and following hundreds of other photographers to get inspired.
Let me tell you what will happen if you don't IMMEDIATELY STOP that.
Your little spark of art will die inside of you - faster than you can imagine - before you even put your foot properly in the door - it will be gone.
You can find inspiration in many ways that will actually help you grow and create amazing work. Look around you. What about reading, nature, real life stories, people-watching, fashion, walking through a city, travelling, food, music, painters...

If you keep trying to copy other photographers,
you will not ever be truly happy with the work you produce.
Because it's never YOU.
If you want to be happy as a photographer or any other artist you must be BRAVE.
You MUST WORK RIDICULOUSLY HARD.
You must listen to your HEART and sit down and take time and figure out for just yourself,
who you are.
Do you see yourself as an ARTIST or ENTERPRENEUR?
seriously - nowadays as a photographer you have these choices!
As an Artist you will strive to create unique imagery and you simply cannot stop because it's the only thing that makes you truly happy.
If you want to work as an artist you have to WORK HARD and PRICE CORRECTLY because unfortunately you cannot eat compliments and facebook likes.
As an Enterpreneur you simply strive to make as much money as possible with this line of work.
You also have to WORK HARD and PRICE CORRECTLY but you can happily ignore the artistic part of this message.

Do you really want to shoot 40 weddings a year? Under-priced to make sure you get as many as possible? Does it make you happy?
Or does it actually break you, you creativity and your spirit?
If you can say from the bottom of your heart, that YES, this is what you want to do, then by all means GO FOR IT.

Do you want to always be the photographer who can copy someone else for cheaper?
Or do you want to be booked because of YOU and because of your unique way of capturing moments, emotions, light....?
Do you want people to see your work and say "hey, it's just like so-and-so's" or do you want them to say
"when I see an image of yours, I know it was created by you before I even saw your name under it"

Please sit down, reflect, look inside of you what it is that you want to do and just DO IT.
There is no shortcut to SUCCESS.
There only is learning the hard way, working hard, breaking down, getting up again and starting from scratch, never giving up, always trying to GROW.
And there is no "top" you can reach because you should always strive to become a better version of yourself.
To be an artist is never easy, it is forever working hard and following your heart - and that really is no simple task.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED - because it's the only way of life for me personally.

A few glimpses into our very busy mini-shoot weekend in October. Wonderfully cosy rustic elegant decorations by my dear cousin Kerstin. It was such a pleasure to meet so many of my long-term clients again but also to get to know and love many new families.
We had such an amazing time - we might just plan something new for next year :-)
Have a cosy winter weekend everyone
Much love x

Happy Halloween - Artistic Shoot München

As spirits roam the neighborhoods at night,
Let loose upon the Earth till it be light...
~Nicholas Gordon

Halloween - All Hallow's Eve.... Tonight I leave you with personal work - definitely something a little different. A series of images that were created on a spontaneous creative whim with my dear friends Mayra Franco and Zuzanna Grabias at Deutsches Theatermuseum München.
Thank you dear Nadina & Zuza for being such beautiful and perfectly creepy models!

During the shoot we were spooked a few times ourselves in this dark, empty old building and I think that comes across a little in the photos I took and feels appropriate for a day like today.
Happy Halloween Everyone. Bring a torch with you and don't let any pumpkins bite xxx

Lifestyle Fotografin Salzburg Österreich

"In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summer die." Alice in Wonderland

Testing cameras can be pretty pretty!
Daniela was my model in a pink poppy field near Salzburg in August - just minutes before a storm hit. The mood was very unique and eerie yet so beautiful.
Most of all, Daniela is my angel assistant at weddings and big shoots. She is my brain on the day so I can concentrate on being creative and shooting, she keeps an eye on the timetable, carries my bags, changes film, passes lenses, makes sure I stay hydrated and sometimes she is also my taxi.
Thanks my dear - 2015 was such a great year with you. I can't wait for our future adventures :-)

All images - as usual - shot on medium format film, developed and scanned by Carmencita film lab.

Elegant Salzburg Engagment Photography

SO I LOVE YOU BECAUSE THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE CONSPIRED TO HELP ME FIND YOU.
                                                                                             The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

Dali & Darren travelled from LAto Europe to celebrate their recent engagement. And because they are both big fans of "The Sound of Music" they also spent 2 days in Salzburg and decided to book me for an engagement shoot there. We planned the shoot for quite some time so Dali had a stylist booked and also a little summer bouquet. What we couldn't plan was the weather of course. But we were blessed with a very hot, sunny July day and took adavantage of the gorgeous light and summer feeling.

The shoot turned into a little guided tour of the beautiful old town of Salzburg. We started in the oldest street called Steingasse, walked over the infamous Markatsteg to get a shot with the skyline of the old town and castle.

From there we took the lift up to the Mönchsberg - Museum der Moderne - and walked above the city for some nature shots and fresh air. Both of them changed their outfits and off we went through the little old streets. From Getreidegasse to Domplatz, where we met a friendly Wolfhound who kindly posed with the couple. Stopping here and there to capture their sweet love and memories of the trip of a lifetime

my summer in photographs

"Summer’s filled with breaking the rules,
standing apart, ignoring your head,
and following your heart. .."

Summer is high season for photographers yet it is supposed to be the time you go on vacation with your family and enjoy lots of fun quality time together outside....
Vacation was a total no go for me this year as I was booked every weekend for shoots.
I tried to make the most of the weekdays we had together.
Our Summer was hotter than ever, we visited a medieval festival in Burghausen, we swam in icy rock-pools in the alps, we made a cosy camp in our garden,  to look at the meteor showers, we had campfires and ate way too many marshmallows.... it was a good summer.
Sometimes I took a camera with me. I am glad I did - to remember some of these moments of the summer before they turn too big to have fun with their mum....
